Up for the cup as national knockout action kicks off
WELSH Cup fever will be in the air when local sides prepare to take their first plunge into national knockout action this Saturday, September 1.
Perhaps the stand-out first qualifying round tie on Anglesey is the battle between Welsh Alliance Division Two newcomers Holyhead Town and revitalised Menai Bridge Tigers, currently top of the Gwynedd League with a 100% record.
Gaerwen caused a big upset when they won at Welsh Alliance Division Two leaders Glan Conwy last weekend, but a whole new challenge awaits Peter Jones’ side away to Division One table-toppers Nantlle Vale.
