Full-throttle thrills on Coastal Circuit

-

THE 750 Motor Club visits Anglesey Circuit this Saturday for a one-day race meeting featuring just two classes.

The RGB Sports 1000 Championship will have two races and the Club Enduro Championship hosts one three-hour showpiece.

The CartekClub Enduro Championship will run its sixth event of the season, where more than 30 teams will take to the Coastal Circuit.

Class C pairing of privateers Steve Hewson and Matt Nossiter currently top the points table in their subtle but effective E36 BMW 328i Coupe.

Not even a power steering failure on the way to the assembly area at Silverstone last month could prevent them taking a fourth victory of the season.

Class B’s Matt Faizey has driven all the races solo to date in his Porsche 968 and lies second in the overall standings, just a few points adrift after finishing off the podium for the first time at Spa Francorchamps back in July.

He will need to take the class victory on Saturday to remain in with a shot of taking the overall title from Hewson and Nossiter, but playing it safe will allow him just the handful of points needed to wrap up the Class B title with a meeting in-hand, ahead of Snetterton next month.

Class A has seen four different winners so far this season, most recently with Luke Sedzikowski taking his E92 BMW M3 to an inaugural victory at Silverstone last month.

The E46 M3 pairing of Andy Marston and Brett Evans has also run at the sharp end of the Club Enduro grid since its inception.

The team took a win here at Anglesey last season; something that the Halesowen duo will be hoping to be able to repeat whilst hunting for their first win of 2018.

Spire Sportscars driver Billy Albone might still retain his lead at the top of the Endurance Financial RGB Sports 1000 Championship, but it was all about team Mittell Cars at Silverstone last month after the father-and-son-managed constructor took its first ever 1-2-3 finish in the opener, thanks to Paul Smith, Chippy Wesemael and Dan Larner,

With the finale set for Snetterton next month, getting the upper hand this weekend will prove crucial in the championship race.
