Bro’s season is back on track

-

AFTER recent poor results, Gwynedd League outfit Bro Goronwy got their season back on track with a 2-0 victory at Bontnewydd.

Jac Thomas snatched at an early chance, with Dan Jones forcing stopper Sion Davies into action before the visitors took a ninth-minute lead.

Sam Carter curled a pinpoint delivery for Dan Jones to apply a controlled touch before lashing his strike past the helpless Davies.

Gwion Rowlands, the pick of Bontnewydd’s youngsters, forced Jonny Sweetser-Hawkes to palm his shot away.

Bont’s best effort of the match came moments before the interval. Cai Williams won the race to the ball before the outrushing stopper, only to slide his shot the wrong side of the post.

It was much of the same after the break, with Bro bossing play but not creating the expected chances until the final stages.

The lead was doubled on the hour, Callum Thomas’ wicked set piece leaving Sam Regan with an unchallenged six-yard volley to put clear daylight between the teams.

Rowlands went close for the boys from Cae Stanley, brushing the crossbar from inside the box, and SweetserHawkes had to be at his best when performing a point-blank stop.

Dan Jones had chances to finish the game off, skewing wide when well placed with his best effort, as well as Regan, this time off target with his header.

The last action of the match saw Jamie Jones send the ball inches over the bar from halfway.
