Gogs slip up for first time

RGC suffered a first defeat of the season last Saturday when they went down 19-12 at home to Ebbw Vale.

The Gogs led at half time in this Premiershi­p clash at Parc Eirias, but were below par in the second half.

Vale opened the scoring with an early penalty from Rhys Jones before RGC hit back with an Andrew Williams try, converted by Billy McBryde

A second Jones penalty made it 7-6, but Iolo Evans finished a great back-line move for a 12-6 interval lead.

Vale notched 13 unanswered points in the second period.

RGC had played with pace and good hands in the first half, bu,t in the second, the tempo was slower and broken up, playing into the visitors’ hands.
