Lexi topples Mountain by bagging four

LEXI CRAWLEY netted four times as Amlwch Town romped to a 7-1 victory over Mountain Rangers in Division Two of the North Wales Women’s League.

Cerys Gadd, Shannon Thomas and Ashleigh Jones added one each for the Anglesey side, Kelly Markham replying.

Bethel maintained their remarkable start to the season with a 7-0 drubbing of Airbus to remain top of Division One on goal difference.

It was a fifth straight win for Ben Bolton and Aaron JonesEvans’ side, with top-scorer Ffion Williams notching a hat-trick.

Erin Maloney, Katie Houghton, Sioned Phillps and Jody Cain added singles for the tabletoppe­rs.

Airbus had key players missing and fielded defender Heidi Scammell in goal because of an injury to regular keeper Sinead Crawford.

Llanfair United also recorded a fifth victory in a row, a secondhalf Gemma Jones strike being enough to beat a much-improved Kinmel Bay outfit 1-0.

Denbigh Town hit top form as they saw off Pwllheli 4-1, new signing Rosie Hughes delivering a double for the hosts, Amber Hellon and Jenny Davies also on the mark, Awen Hughes responding.

Prestatyn secured their first win of the campaign, defeating Northop Hall 4-2, whose two goals were provided by Becca Hughes.

Millie O’Connor (2), Emily Luke and Shannon Hobbs found the net for the hosts.

In Division Two, Wrexham were held 2-2 by Rhyl Developmen­t. Jodie Richards and Jessie Griffiths for the Dragons, Sade Benjamin and Charlie Skeffingto­n bagging the visitors a good point.

Penrhyn Bay versus Corwen was postponed.

In the Welsh Premier Women’s League, Caernarfon Town led Briton Ferry Llansawel 2-1 at half time through Alishia Donohue and Ffion Owen, but the South Walians rallied in the second half to win 4-2.

Rhyl were beaten 4-0 at home by Cardiff City FC Women, while Llandudno crashed 6-0 at Swansea City.
