Midwinter does the trick again to lead Bethesda to third straight win

- Bethesda Ladies celebrate a goal against Corwen

KATIE MIDWINTER made it back-to-back hat-tricks for a Bethesda side which celebrated a third win in a row with a 4-2 result at Corwen.

But it was tough going for Pesda at times in this North Wales Women’s League Division Two clash at the War Memorial Park, with only a stunning free-kick from Midwinter to make it 4-2 eventually sealing the result.

Corwen took the lead through Sophie Hodson before Bethesda levelled the score.

Midwinter received a throw-in from Danielle Hesketh and turned cleverly in the box, finishing with a powerful left-footed shot that flew into the top left corner of the net.

And, before the break, club captain Midwinter’s shooting skills paid dividends again, her strike from outside the box arrowing into the top right corner.

Bethesda went 3-1 up in the second half, clever play between former Bangor City pair Hannah McGoona and substitute Ceri Lois setting it up. Quick passing between the two created the chance which McGoona finished.

Corwen were far from finished and a Lucie White goal reduced the arrears to 3-2.

The home side now pressed for the equaliser, one shot hitting the post and rolling along the goalline before Cara Aston cleared the danger.

It was left to Midwinter to calm the away nerves, netting with a magnificent free-kick from around 35 yards to secure the spoils.

The result maintained Pesda’s 100% record but they are a point behind Division Two leaders Wrexham, who have played a game more. RESULTS NORTH WALES WOMEN’S LEAGUE
