BANNED FROM ALL CEMETERIES

Sexual predator ‘poses high risk to pensioners’:

ASEXUAL predator has been banned from visiting cemeteries – due to the “risk” he poses to pensioners.

William Wayne Edwards of Bangor, has served twelve years in jail for raping a woman in her 80s in 1992.

He served a further seven years behind bars for charges relating to the false imprisonment and sexual assault of another old woman in 2002.

On Thursday, the 52-year-old (pictured right) had the conditions of his sexual harm prevention order (SOPO) varied by district judge Gwyn Jones at Caernarfon court following serious concerns raised by North Wales Police had about them.

The changes mean that he can no longer enter any cemetery – unless he’s visiting the grave or memorial of a family member or close family friend.

Even then, he must tell police of the name of the deceased he plans to visit as well as where their grave is located.

He also has to tell them what time he plans to visit.

In court last week, Edwards was described as a “high” risk to pen- sioners aged over 80 – although he opposed North Wales Police’s bid to get the conditions of his SOPO to be varied.

His SOPO was imposed in 2010 after he’d approached a woman in her 90s to try and get her contact details. He’s also been jailed for “chatting up” a woman in her 80s in Wrexham and taking her for a drink to an hotel in a separate incident.
