Pesda are closing in on crown
BETHESDA ATHLETIC require seven points from their remaining five games to be crowned North Wales Women’s Football League Division Two champions at the first attempt.
Newly-formed this season, the team have won all seven league matches this term – a total of 21 points – with 28 the magic figure required to guarantee top place.
Second-place Wrexham’s draw with Amlwch last weekend means they can only get to 27 points with three fixtures left to play.
Pesda take on Corwen at home this Sunday knowing a victory can edge them even closer to the crown. It will be far from easy, however, with Athletic’s only defeat this season being a 5-0 reverse at Corwen in the NEWFA Cup two weeks ago. In their league visit to Corwen, Bethesda won the match 4-2.
Apart from this Sunday’s game, Pesda still have Amlwch Town, Wrexham and Penrhyn Bay to play away, with Mountain Rangers yet to visit Parc Meurig. Pesda’s Super Seven: Sep 16: Rhyl Development (A) 5-1 (Holly Beddall, Chloe Hughes, Katie Midwinter 3).
Sep 23: Penrhyn Bay (H) 12-0 (Ffion Roberts 6, Awel Ellis 2, Shannon Jones 2, Angharad Evans, Holly Beddall).
Oct 7: Corwen (A) 4-2 (Katie Midwinter 3, Hannah McGoona).
