Bay still in mire after tied game

COLWYN Bay remain mired in trouble at the foot of the Premier League after fighting out a tied game at Formby.

The home side declared in 259-4 in 49 overs after a 126 run partnershi­p for their second wicket between Ollie Sutton, who added 52 and Tatenda Taibu, who would eventually finish not out on 144. Adam Campion took 2-71 while Saliya Saman Jeewantha and Paul Jenkins each claimed a wicket.

The Bay then reached 253-7 in reply in their 55 overs, posting a 163 partnershi­p for their fourth wicket between Sion Morris and Campion. The former added 109, while Campion chipped in with 71 to the tally.

Prestatyn similarly sit in a worrying position, just one place and four points outside the drop zone in the First Division.

The Seasiders went down to a 11- run loss at second placed Wigan.

The home side declared on 225-5 in 50 overs, Kieron Tidswell taking two wickets as Charles Taylor top scored with 80 and fellow opener John Richardson added 58.

In reply, Prestatyn were all out for 115 in 36.1 overs, Gareth Leonard top scoring with 39.

Northop Hall fared little better as they went down to a three-wicket loss at leaders Newton-le-Willows. Batting first and winning the toss, the Hall were all out for 138 in 36.1 overs Joshua Andrady top scoring with 46 as Sam Guest took 5-42.

The division leaders ended on 139-7 in 43.4 overs to seal the win, Mike Walkden top scoring on an unbeaten 40 despite four wickets for James Hurlin and three for Mohammed Enamul Haque.
