Cllr Thomas added: “Of course, it is our duty as a council to ensure that we manage and protect the landscape and work with the local community and businesses to bring the best benefit to the area.

“The Management Plan that has been prepared outlines how we intend to do this and we will shortly be carrying out a public engagement exercise on this plan so that local communities and businesses understand the purpose of the nomination and how any site will be managed in the future.

“Further details about how local people and organisations can have their say as part of this process will be available very shortly.

“The council is working to submit a full dossier to the UK Government later this year.” AGRI-POLLUTION workshops are to be held at 33 “priority watercourse” locations across Wales.

Guidance will be given on how to improve water quality through slurry and soil management, and reduced use of chemicals.

The workshops are part of a campaign being co-ordinated by Farming Connect on behalf of the Wales Land Management Forum’s agri pollution sub-group – a body incorporating NRW, Welsh Government and the farm unions. The first event was in Flintshire. Others are being arranged at Fron Farm, Hendre, Mold, on August 16, and Plas Llanfihangel, Capel Coch, Anglesey, LL77 7UT, on August 19. Both are from 10.30am-1.30pm.
