FOR the second time in the space of three weeks, heavy rain affected the cricket fixture list across North Wales.

However, there were still four matches completed in the Premier Division of the North Wales league, and leaders Bangor proved far too strong for bottom side Connah’s Quay as they won by eight wickets in Flintshire.

Franco Kasner was the star of the show for the visitors, taking 5-20 as Connah’s Quay were bowled out for just 76 in 33.2 overs.

Rhys Stout top-scored for Quay with 31.

Bangor then reached their target in just over 17 overs with Nadeem Rehman scoring an unbeaten 31 as Callum Miller took the only two wickets to fall.

There was frustration for defending champions Menai Bridge as their clash at Denbigh was abandoned.

Denbigh had won the toss and chose to bowl first and Bridge were 45-1 in 12 overs with opener Jack Gower unbeaten on 24 before the weather intervened.

In Division One, Bethesda’s match at Llanrwst was cancelled.

Mochdre moved up to second above Menai Bridge after defeating Brymbo in a match reduced to 20 overs a side.

Batting first, Mochdre scored 116-5 in their 20 overs with captain Matty Humphreys scoring 53 not out and Gareth Boys taking 3-31 for Brymbo.

Despite a good start by openers James Claybrook (43) and Mohamed Nilam Jayman (20), Brymbo finished on 91-7, giving Mochdre a 25-run win as captain Humphreys and Gareth Goodson both took two wickets.

Llandudno were comfortable winners as they beat Northop by 96 runs in a match reduced to 45 overs a side.

The Conwy side scored 221-9 in their 45 overs thanks mainly to Sam Rimmington (70) and Luke Kenworthy (57), though Matthew Mullarkey took 4-29 for Northop.

Rimmington also impressed with the ball for Llandudno, taking 3-41 as Northop were bowled out for 125 in 37.2 overs with Jake Sumbland, Danial Evans and Jamie Grimshaw all taking two wickets.
