-

A LORRY driver was taken to hospital after crashing over a roundabout and into a field.

The motorist was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor after crashing over the Plas Menai Roundabout on the A487 and into a field at around 7am on Saturday.

Their condition has not been disclosed.

Images from the scene of the incident showed track marks across the roundabout where the lorry had driven over it.

There was then damage to the side of a field which borders the road.

The vehicle came to rest in the middle of the field, with significant damage to the cab of the lorry visible.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed that a person had been taken to hospital following the crash, but were unable to provide further details on whether NORTH Wales has some of the cleanest bathing water in Europe, new figures have revealed.

No open-water swimming sites in Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy or Denbighshire got a “poor” rating in the Bathing Water Quality Results 2019 study.

In the north, 34 out a possible 44 sites achieved an “excellent” rating.

New among the top-ranking spots this year was Porth Eirias beach in Colwyn Bay.

The other dipping spots all got a “good” or “sufficient” rating for water quality. they were male or female, and the extent of their injuries.

North Wales Police warned motorists to avoid the area following the collision.

On Twitter, the force said there was mud and debris on the road as a result of the crash, and asked motorists to drive carefully near the scene.

A spokesman declined to provide further information about the crash.

No road closures were put into place as a result of the incident, but closures were expected when work was later done to recover the lorry.

The figures show that the amount of excellent waters across Wales has gone up from 78-83 over the past year.

Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs Lesley Griffiths said: “We all know Wales has some of the most stunning coastline in Europe and these statistics prove we officially have some of the cleanest bathing water too.”

Lord Elis-Thomas, Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, added: “This is a fantastic achievement, a true team effort.”
