HIGH WIRE TUMBLE

Moment a daredevil slips hundreds of feet above ground at South Stack

- Lydia Morris

THIS is the incredible moment an acrobat falls from a high wire above South Stack on Anglesey as they attempt to walk across it while several hundred feet in the air.

The daredevil, believed to be a woman, was seen carrying out the stunt on a slack line above the cliff edge on Holy Island.

But at about the half way point, they lose their balance and fall from the rope.

Though at a great height and suspended in mid-air, they manage to keep their composure.

The slack line walker then manages to pull themself back up and continue the attempt.

Megan Bagnall from Holyhead, one of the onlookers who caught the incredible feat on camera, said the acrobat appeared to have been part of a group of stunt people.

She said: “We had seen them getting ready with the harness as we started walking down the steps to South Stack.

“We turned back around to look after passing them and saw her stand up and attempt it the first time.”

A picture of the stunt was initially posted on the Images of Anglesey

Facebook page on Sunday evening, with dozens of people questioning whether the death-defying stunt was legitimate.

Commenting on the post, one user, wrote: “Oh my goodness I feel sick watching... how brave.”

Another, asked: “Brave person. No safety dingy below? Great different photo and did he survive?”

In response, another passerby who witnessed the event, replied: “[They] had a safety line attached with carabiners and did fall a few times from which he climbed back on, it was a high line and was quite dynamic with lots of bounce!”

It is not the first time such a feat has been attempted in North Wales.

In December last year, a thrillseeker risked life and limb to walk between cliffs on Llandudno’s Great Orme on a tightrope.
