Cefni struggle continues

-

PRESTATYN Town continue to lead the way at the top of the Cymru North despite failing to pick up maximum points for only the fourth time during this campaign.

The Seasiders hold a 13-point grip over second-placed Flint Town United, but were held to a 2-2 draw at home against strugglers Porthmadog, Zebb Edwards rescuing a share of the spoils for the league leaders.

Jordan Davies had put Prestatyn into the lead just before the half hour mark, before a second half brace from Shaun Cavanagh gave Port the lead, until Edwards stuck back five minutes from the end.

Flint remain the nearest challengers to the Seasiders and claimed a 5-0 win at Llangefni Town on Friday night, Mark Cadwallader shining for the Silkmen with a second half hat-trick.

Nathan Brown and Alex Titchiner were also on target for the visitors as Llangefni suffered a 17th loss of the league season to remain bottom of the standings.

Santiago Chacon and Facundo Busto fired either side of half time for Bangor City as they ran out 2-0 winners at Llandudno on Friday night.

Colwyn Bay are continuing to adjust to life back in the Welsh pyramid and sit in fourth place after sealing a 3-2 win at Llanfair United, but needed to survive a late scare from the home side. Tony Jones, Callum Parry and Mitch Bryant had fired the Bay into a 3-0 lead before the hour mark before Will Bell and Gethin Jones replied for United.

Guilsfield sit in third place after a late Adam Jenkins effort gave them all three points at home against Gresford Athletic.

Conwy Borough took advantage of Rhyl’s slip at Penrhyncoch to move up to sixth, the Morfa outfit claiming a 3-1 win at Ruthin Town; Corrig McGonigle firing home two penalties after Craig Whelan had fired them ahead, Josh Jones also replied from the spot for the home side.

A late Dave Macintyre effort was all Rhyl had to show for their efforts at Penrhyncoch as they went down to a 2-1 loss, Steff Davies and Tom Evans on target for the home side, while Buckley edged away from the bottom sides with a 2-1 win at Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant.

An Aled Bellis penalty sealed the win for Town after Sam Molyneux had fired them ahead before Sam Graham’s second half equaliser.
