Citizens’new signing wins player award

-

ONE of Bangor City’s January signings has won the club’s Player of the Month award for last month.

Upon his arrival, Facundo Placeres became an instant hit, earning himself the man of the match award as chosen by the secretary Alun Griffith, against Flint Town United.

Having seen an array of talent during his lengthy tenure at the club, it is fair to say he knows talent when he sees it.

Despite a loss at Flint, the shining star of the match for the Citizens was number 95, Placeres.

A debut against physical side Flint away from home would be enough to send any young debutant squirming, but not Placeres.

He may have been thrown in at the deep end, starting against second place Flint, in a league completely unknown to him.

However, manager Pedro Pasculli’s faith in his new signing was rewarded, despite the narrow loss, the young midfielder battled hard against a towering midfield and excited the crowd when he got on the ball and showed exactly what he was capable of, as he pulled off some great passes.

A week later, at home to Llangefni, the newly-signed Uruguayan picked up where he left off at Flint, pulling off another great performance in midfield.

This time fans were able to see more of his flair and eye for a pass as he linked up superbly with fellow midfield debutants Hugo Colace and Santiago Chacon.

The midfield three lit up the park and showcased some brilliant football between them.

Upon the final whistle, the Citizens took all three points following a 3-1 victory.

His brilliant performance warranted him a slot in the coveted man of the match poll, alongside fellow midfield ace Santiago Chacon, and the two goalscorers Agyemang and Serafino.

The Uruguayan was unlucky not to win the poll having put in such a great shift in the middle of the park, however the match saw several superb performances.

Placeres has taken no time at all to demonstrate his importance to the squad, a versatile midfielder, willing to get stuck in and battle, but one that will also get on the ball and play to, the midfielder is bound to be a hit in the upcoming months.

Starting the month as a debutant, to the team and the league, he has had a great month and is an exciting addition.
