TODDLER KILLED IN A55 HORROR CRASH NAMED:

A TODDLER who died following a crash on the A55 in Anglesey has been named.

Elis Wyn Owen, who was just 21 months old, died following the crash between a Ford Mondeo and a lorry on the A55 near Gwalchmai on Anglesey last Sunday afternoon, February 16.

An inquest into his death will be held at a later date.

A front-seat passenger in the car, understood to be the boy’s mother, was taken to hospital with lifethreat­ening injuries following the crash.

Condolence­s for the family were posted on social media, with hundreds of people expressing their sadness at the news of his death.

One said: “Oh my god, this is so so sad.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the little boy’s family during their incredibly sad time.”

Another said: “Unimaginab­le grief. Poor little darling. Please God bless and help his family in their dreadful loss.”

Following the crash, police said: “The female front-seat passenger was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor but she has since been transferre­d to hospital in Stoke and is described as being in a critical condition.

“The male driver was uninjured.” Inspector Gareth Jones of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Sadly this is being investigat­ed as a fatal road traffic collision and our heartfelt sympathies remain with the baby boy’s family at this incredibly difficult time.

“The investigat­ion is currently underway and we are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have seen either vehicle shortly before 2pm to contact us.”

Police, firefighte­rs and paramedics all attended the scene of the crash.
