Tigers still on course for cup success

TWENTY-FOUR Cybi Striders made the trip to Llandudno for the rearranged Nick Beer 10k, which due to storm damage also had a different route.

Chris Thomas was the first Cybi to finish, followed by James Hooton and Johnhuw Watkin Jones.

In the ladies Nia Wright Morgan put in another great performanc­e finishing 5th Lady and 2nd in age category, Sarah Osborne was the next Cybi. Diane Holmes kept up her good form winning her age category again.

Due to the rearranged date for the Nick Beer, some Runners competed in two events over the weekend, Geraint Roberts, Nigel Jones, Paul Williams and Lucy Williams all competed in the Chester 10k, while Paul Maitland and Darren Seeney did the Wrexham 20-mile race.

MENAI Bridge Tigers stayed on course for a ninth success in the NWCFA Junior Cup with a 2-1 win victory at fellow Gwynedd League side Talysarn.

Glyn Thomas put Talysarn ahead but a Dafydd Healy double won it for the Tigers.

Trearddur Bay Bulls are out though after losing 3-2 to Llansannan.

Euros Lloyd and Kieran Kendrick scored in the first half for Llansannan before Justin Williams pulled one back for the Bulls.

Liam Wyn Jones grabbed what turned out to be a crucial third with Anton Williams replying for the visitors.

Llangoed and District were beaten 4-3 in a thriller by Abergele.

Dominic Holland scored all four for Abergele with Matty Owen, Jamie Roberts and Sam Gregson scoring for Llangoed.

Glan Conwy progressed to the quarter-finals of the Mawddach Challenge Cup with a 2-0 home triumph over Bodedern Athletic.

In the Welsh Alliance Division One, Mynydd Llandegai drew 2-2 with St Asaph City, Osian Jones with a pair for Mynydd.

In Division Two, Corey Sinnott’s double guided Gwalchmai to a 2-1 success at Aberffraw, Gavin Roberts for the home side.

Gwyndaf Hughes’ penalty and an own goal ensured bottom side Pentraeth defeated Amlwch Town 2-0.

In a battle of two of the top teams, Y Felinheli drew 2-2 with Gaerwen.

Dylan Jones and Iwan Owen put the hosts twoup, but Chris Bennett responded with a double for the islanders.

In the Gwynedd League, Reece Thompson and Leon Owen scored in Ogwen Tigers’ 2-1 win against Llannerchy­medd, Mark Jones for the islanders.

Deion Hughes (2, 1 pen) and Tomos Jones split the goals as Bontnewydd saw off Glantraeth 3-1, James Ryan responding.

Holyhead Hotspur Reserves advanced to the Unite the Union Dargie Cup Final at the expense of hosts Llanfairpw­ll.

Mike Edwards and Cameron Eaton scored the goals in a 2-1 win for Tom Scott’s men, Jack Davies replying for the hosts.
