‘INSPIRATION’: NAIN, 95, HOME AFTER 7-WEEK CORONAVIRUS FIGHT:

Applause as Megan, 95, returns home after 7-week Covid battle

THIS is the moment 95-year-old Megan Williams was given a standing ovation as she returned to her care home after weeks battling coronavirus – and winning.

Family and friends were fearful when the beloved nain contracted the virus, and had not been able to see her since early March.

But last week, after three weeks in Ysbyty Gwynedd and a further four in Holyhead’s Ysbyty Penrhos Stanley, she got the all clear.

And she returned to a round of applause from staff at the Rhos

Care Home, Malltraeth, near Newborough, where she lives.

Grandson John Meirion Griffith described Megan as “an inspiration”.

He said: “My nain is the head of our family. She’s an absolute inspiration at 95 years old, having spent the last seven weeks in hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 for 5 weeks.”

Mr Griffith, who posted the video of her homecoming online, said she “deserved all the credit” for being so strong.

He said: “She’s now had the all clear and is heading back home. She’s an absolute rock of a woman and makes me so proud and warms my heart seeing this video. Love you Nain.”

Dozens of people took to social media to congratulate Megan.

Grace Jones commented on Facebook: “She’s just a gem, isn’t she? And a strong woman – nothing gets her down. Lovely to see her going home, bless her.”

And Sasha Pugh added: “That’s amazing! I’ve got goosebumps. If my nain was here today, she be the same and smash covid! Hardcore, these old ladies and they put us to shame.

“The things they’ve gone through in life we can’t imagine and your nain is still smiling.

“God bless her.”
