Work starts on trade park at former abattoir
WORK is under way on a major trade park at the site of a former abattoir on Anglesey.
The Cig Môn abattoir in Llangefni went into receivership in 2006, leading to the loss of 100 jobs with the site having lain empty since then.
But planning was secured by Castle Property Investment Holdings Ltd for eight new industrial units on Industrial Estate Road.
Now work is under way on the £2.5m development with units available for let.
It is backed with a Property Development Grant from Welsh Government.
Stephen Wade, of joint agents Legat Owen said: “This is a fantastic site for trade-related uses lying at the heart of the island and close to the A55.
“Enquiry levels from both local and national occupiers are very encouraging at this early stage and we hope to be able to make further announcements shortly.”
“The development which is being undertaken by Bangor based Castle Property Investment Holdings is being supported with a Property Development Grant from Welsh Government.”
The design and access statement said there is an identified demand in the market for units to meet the needs of SMEs and this development seeks to contribute towards meeting this demand in Llangefni.
