AFARMER has died after a crash on Anglesey. John Owen, 63, died after a crash in his black Isuzu Rodeo pick-up on Lon Leidr, Llandyfrydog near Llanerchymedd, at around 5pm on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said Mr Owen, who was local to the area, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, despite the best efforts of members of the public and emergency services, including the Wales Air Ambulance crew.

Sergeant Raymond Williams, from the Roads Policing Unit, said: “The sudden and unexpected death following a road traffic collision is always a shock and I offer my profound condolences to Mr Owen’s family at this difficult time.

“The senior assistant coroner for the area – Ms Katie Sutherland has been informed of the death.

“I am appealing to anyone who was travelling in the Llandyfrydog area at the time that witnessed the collision or may have dash-cam footage that shows the black Isuzu Rodeo prior to the collision to get in touch.

“The road was closed in order to allow our Forensic Collision Investigation Team to carry out their thorough investigation and I am grateful for the patience shown by road users whose journey may have been inconvenienced due to this sad incident.”

The road was re-opened shortly after 9pm.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman added: “We were called yesterday, 28 July, at approximately 5.01pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving a single vehicle in the Lon Leidr area of Llandyfrydog.

“We responded with one emergency ambulance, one rapid response vehicle and were supported by Wales Air Ambulance.”
