Man bit ex after she changed TV channel

-

A MAN who bit his former partner after she changed the TV channel has been jailed for two years.

It was one of three assaults by Joshua George Wren on Rhian Jones, Caernarfon Crown Court heard.

Wren, 29, pleaded guilty to three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm all against the same woman.

Prosecutor Michael Whitty said Wren, of Ffordd Beibio, Holyhead, and the woman had been in a relationship last year.

On May 24, the then-couple were watching TV at her flat when Ms Jones changed the TV channel. This “aggravated” Wren, who told her “not to be clever”.

She slapped him but he retaliated and slapped her back. She ended up with “green bruises” on both sides of her face, the court heard. He then bit her cheek. He later told her “his head went”.

In the second assault, he had been suffering mental health issues in Ms Jones’ flat. On May 27 and May 28, he had burned his own forearm with a cigarette and cut his own stomach with a knife. He then turned on Ms Jones and almost strangled her.

And in the third incident, three weeks later on June 17, Ms Jones returned home to find Wren had locked himself in her flat.

Eventually she got inside, but the situation escalated and he put his hands in her mouth, stopping her breathing.

Dafydd Roberts, defending, said his client accepts the relationship is over.

The judge jailed Wren for two years to run concurrently, for each of the three assaults causing ABH. He was also jailed for three months for breaching a restraining order and a further three months for breach of a suspended sentence, both to run consecutively.
