Dispersal order after anti-social incidents in village

-

POLICE hit a seaside village with a dispersal order following reports of “drink- and drug-fuelled incidents” caused by youths.

North Wales Police said the move was part of efforts to tackle “high levels of disorder” in Trearddur Bay on Anglesey.

It covered the village until 9pm on Monday night and the force said it was aimed at “large groups of youths” suspected of being responsible for incidents in the area of the beach.

A post on the North Wales Police Anglesey Facebook page stated yesterday: “A Dispersal Order is currently in effect in Trearddur Bay following recent reports of anti-social behaviour involving youths.

“High levels of ASB [anti-social behaviour] and associated disorder have been reported in the beach area, with large groups of youths responsible for these incidents.

“Several reports received in the last 24 hours gave involved teenagers engaged in drink- and drug-fuelled incidents, resulting in disorderly and violent behaviour.”

The order gave police officers powers to remove persons where they had reasonable grounds to suspect that the behaviour of the person in the locality had contributed to or would be likely to contribute to:

members of the public in the locality being harassed, alarmed or distressed, or

the occurrence in the locality of crime or disorder.

The force spokesman added: “We would urge all parents to deter their children from attending this location while the Dispersal Order is in effect. Parents and guardians who live in this area are also encouraged to question where their sons and daughters are spending time in the evenings.”
