Summer of Fun with Gadgeteers in Gwynedd libraries

-

OVER the summer holidays, a number of free activities for children will be held in libraries across Gwynedd including story and craft sessions, walking tours, dancing and much more!

This year’s theme is ‘Gadgeteers’ with an emphasis on science and innovation.

It gives children aged 4-11 the opportunity to visit their local library to meet the Gadgeteers and take part in a Reading Challenge which will inspire their curiosity and ability to understand the science behind a wide range of interests including fashion, technology, cooking and music.

Nia Gruffydd, Gwynedd Libraries Service Manager, said: “The reading challenge is a great way to maintain children’s interest in books and encourage them to continue reading over the summer.”

Councillor Nia Jeffreys, Gwynedd Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic and Community Development who is responsible for the Libraries Service, added: “Thanks to the Welsh Government’s Summer of Fun and Early Childhood grants, we are proud to be able to host a variety of activities and provide materials to primary school aged children in the county to encourage them to read and foster their curiosity about the world around them.”

The Summer Reading Challenge is a national campaign run by the Reading Agency in collaboration with the Welsh Government, the Welsh Book Council and the Science Museum Group.

The activities are funded by the Welsh Government’s #Summer of Fun scheme.
