A get-together like no other,anglesey Show is finally back
CROESO ‘nol Sioe Môn! Mae’r ddwy flynedd a hanner ddiwethaf wedi bod fel ‘run cyfnod arall yn ein hanes. Mae ein cymunedau wedi teimlo eithafion o fod yn unedig ac o fod ar wahân - yr undod sy’n dod o gefnogi’r rhai o’n cwmpas a wynebu’r feirws efo’n gilydd, a’r teimlad o fod ar wahân ddaeth o fethu ymgynnull yn y mathau o ddigwyddiadau cymunedol yr oedden ni wedi’u cymryd yn ganiataol.
Y mwyaf o’r digwyddiadau hynny i ni ar yr ynys yw Sioe Môn, sy’n gyfle blynyddol i ddathlu’r gorau o amaethyddiaeth, cynnyrch, bwyd a chrefft Ynys Môn – a phobl elfen o’n ffordd wledig o fyw. I lawer, dyma uchafbwynt y flwyddyn – cyfle heb ei ail i ni ddod at ein gilydd fel cymuned.
Roedd gorfod canslo’r sioe yn benderfyniad poenus. Roedd yn anochel, wrth gwrs, ond serch hynny rydw i’n teimlo dros y rhai oedd yn gorfod gwneud y penderfyniad, nid unwaith ond ddwywaith.
Ond mae’r ffaith ein bod wedi gallu ymgynnull unwaith eto fel cymuned, a chroesawu ymwelwyr, cystadleuwyr ac arddangoswyr o bell ac agos, yn dangos cystal adnoddau dynol a chymaint o benderfynoldeb sydd gennym yma ar Ynys Môn. Mae’r tîm sy’n trefnu’r sioe yn un bach, ond maen nhw wedi’i wneud o!
Mae’r sioe yn ffenest siop ar gyfer Ynys Môn wledig. Mae’n ymwneud â mwy na dim ond ffermio, ond mae’n sicr yn ein hatgoffa o bwysigrwydd ein sector amaeth. Mae amaethyddiaeth yn bwysig oherwydd ei effaith economaidd, ac rydym wedi cael ein hatgoffa’n ddiweddar o
bwysigrwydd diogelwch bwyd. Ond mae’n ymwneud hefyd â rôl gynhenid amaethyddiaeth yng ngwead cymdeithas wledig. Dyna pam y byddaf bob amser yn gwneud yr hyn a allaf, gan weithio gyda ffermwyr, eu cyflenwyr a’r Undebau, i geisio’r lefel uchaf o gefnogaeth i’r diwydiant ac i ddiogelu ein tir fel y gall cynhyrchwyr bwyd wneud yr hyn maen nhw’n ei wneud orau – cynhyrchu bwyd o safon uchel yn lleol .
A dyma ni felly yn dathlu mewn sioe arall. ydi hi byth yn hawdd trefnu digwyddiad fel hyn, ac rydw i’n reit siŵr y bydd y tîm yn edrych am ffyrdd o wella pethau hyd yn oed yn fwy ar gyfer y sioe nesaf - dyna sut mae digwyddiadau fel hyn yn esblygu. Ond rydyn ni yma eto yn 2022, a dwi eisiau dweud ‘Diolch’! Diolch i bawb sydd wedi gwneud iddo ddigwydd,
Cwedi dod â golwg newydd i’r sioe mewn nifer o ffyrdd, a hyd yn oed wedi sicrhau digon o heulwen – roeddech chi’n ei haeddu.ROESO ‘nol Sioe Môn! The Show is back! The past two and a half years have been without precedent. Our communities have felt extremes of togetherness and separation – the togetherness found in supporting those around us and facing the virus with real solidarity, and the separation of being unable to gather in the kinds of community events that we had taken for granted.
The largest of those events for us on the island is the Anglesey Show, an annual opportunity to celebrate the best of Ynys Môn’s agriculture, produce, food, craft, and indeed every element of our rural way of life. To so many it is
the highlight of the year – a get-together like no other.
To have had to cancel the show was a painful decision. It was inevitable, of course, but nonetheless I feel for those who had to make it, not once but twice.
But the fact we have been able to gather as an island community once again, and to welcome visitors, competitors and exhibitors from far and wide, shows what brilliant human resource and determination we have here on Ynys Môn. It’s a small team that put on the show, but they’ve done it!
The show is a shop window for rural Anglesey. It’s about more than just farming, but it certainly reminds us of the importance of our agriculture sector. Agriculture is important for its economic impact, and we’ve been reminded recently of
the importance of food security. But it’s also about the intrinsic role of agriculture in the fabric of rural society. That’s why I’ll always do what I can, working with farmers, suppliers and the Unions, to seek the highest level of support for the industry and protect our land so food producers can do what they do best – produce high quality food locally.
And so we celebrate at another show. It’s never easy to put on, and the team will no doubt look for ways to improve things even more for the next show – that’s how events like this evolve. But we’re here again in 2022, and I want to say ‘Diolch’! Thanks to all those who’ve made it happen, brought a fresh look to the show in a number of ways, and even made sure of a good dose of sunshine – you deserved it.
