NETWORK RAIL TRACK RENEWAL TO DISRUPT WEEKEND SERVICES

-

Weekend passengers in North Wales are being asked to check before they travel over the next two months. Buses will replace trains in April and May while Network Rail renews track.

Travel will be affected on two lines - the North Wales Coast Line and the Conwy Valley Line. The biggest impact will be between Bangor and Holyhead, where four weekends have been set aside for work.

Trains running to and from

Holyhead from Llandudno Junction and Rhyl will have a single weekend shutdown. The Conwy Valley Line from Llandudno will also suffer a weekend of disruption (see all dates below).

Network Rail said it will be replacing rails, sleepers and ballast (track stones) to help improve punctuality. Nick Millington, route director at Network Rail Wales and Borders, said: “We recognise there is never a good time to close the railway, but we have planned the renewals to minimise disruption as much as possible.

“We appreciate the patience of passengers and our lineside neighbours and thank them for their understanding. We are working really hard to improve train service punctuality and this essential work is a part of our commitment to do that.”
