Seaside Trip

The Dearne Kids who meet at the Houghton Road Community Centre have a trip to see the Blackpool illuminati­ons on October 28 which costs £17. To book a place call Ian Ball on 0797976293­7, or go onto Dearnekids­activitygr­oup@outlook.com.

Car Boot

Tomorrow there will be a car boot sale at the Thurnscoe flower park from 8am-midday. It is £10 per car and £20 per van. Parking for this event is at the Houghton Road car park, which is across the road from Asda. To book call 07495 168 742.

Housing Officer

On Thursday there will be drop-in sessions with the Private Sector Housing Officer at Thurnscoe Library, from 10am-midday, where tenants, owners/occupiers and landlords can get advice on low-level anti-social behaviour, waste in gardens, fly-tipping, recycling, disrepair in a rented property and empty properties.

Reading

There will be a meeting of the readers’ group on Tuesday at Thurnscoe library at 2pm, where they will discuss a variety of books which have been chosen by the library staff.

Toddler Group

There is a toddler group which is held at St Helen’s Church Hall, opposite the church, from Monday to Friday, 9.15-11am, during termtime only. A donation of £1 is suggested to include drinks and toast.

Charity Shop

A charity shop and coffee morning is held on Fridays at The Rainbow Centre, on Houghton Road, from 10am-midday. Everyone welcome.

Toy Drive

One Stop supermarke­t on Shepherd Lane are holding a toy drive up until November 30. Donations of new and used toys are needed to help children in the Dearne area have a better Christmas. The toys must be of good condition.

Tombola

Next Friday One Stop supermarke­t are holding a tombola for Young Lives vs Cancer. Please go along and have a go. Numbers ending in nought or five to win.

Christmas Fair

The Dearne Kids will be hosting a Christmas fair on Saturday December 2 at the Houghton Road Community Centre from 10.30pm, with hot chocolate, craft stalls, tombola, hot food and a visit from Santa. Everyone welcome.

Luncheon Club

On Wednesdays at the Houghton Road Community Centre there will be a luncheon club from 11am-1pm with traditiona­l dinners from £3.50. This is open to everyone. There will also be bingo from 1pm.

St George’s Church

Harvest Thanksgivi­ng service on Sunday is at 5pm led by John Hayes and members from the Wesleyan Reform Church are invited to attend. On Tuesday ‘Cuppa and Chat’ is from 10am-midday, all are welcome.

Wesleyan Reform Church

On Sunday a prayer service is at 11am. There is no evening service to allow members to attend the Harvest Thanksgivi­ng service at 5pm at St George’s Parish Church led by John Hayes. Bible Study is on Tuesday at 7pm. The Art Club meet at 10am on Monday and Pop-In Club is on Wednesday at 10am.
