Posh 3, Reds 1 – October 5, 1993

Barnsley’s third trip of the year to Peterborough. After a 1-1 draw at Oakwell in the first leg of this League

Cup tie, this game was delayed for 24 minutes due to floodlight failure in the first half. Gerry Taggart was sent off just before the hour-mark – his second dismissal of the week – and was followed by player/manager Viv Anderson who received the first red card of his long career late on in normal time. Ian Bryson levelled between the red cards after the hosts took an early lead then Barnsley conceded twice in extra-time.

Posh 0, Reds 0 – November 27, 2021

Again there was a floodlight failure at London Road, causing a 17-minute delay this time. Barnsley fans travelled through heavy snow to watch Poya Asbaghi’s second game in charge. A very defensive Reds side were poor and the hosts missed the best chances of a drab game between two sides who would be relegated.

Posh 1, Reds 2 – December 2, 2022

A big win for Michael Duff’s Barnsley against a fellow promotion-challenger. Luca Connell netted his first Reds goal with a tremendous strike from outside the box then, after Jack Taylor levelled, Herbie Kane’s clever free-kick left Adam Phillips in space on the edge of the area and his strike was spilled in by goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom.
