Awards event boosts charity
BARRHEAD businesses have delivered a welcome cash boost to a worthy cause.
A cheque for £1,500 was presented to the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity (GCHC) as a result of the success of this year’s All About Barrhead Awards.
Much of the cash was raised through a raffle at the event, which was organised by business improvement district (BID) organisation All About Barrhead and took place at the town’s Dalmeny Park House Hotel last month.
The annual awards celebrate local achievements and contributions to the Barrhead community but always support a worthy cause too.
Jenny Dunlop, manager of All About Barrhead, said that, when local people and businesses unite for a good cause, “great things can happen.”
She told the Barrhead News: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to support the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity once again, having worked with them on the highly-successful Oor Wullie Bucket Trail in 2019.
“This latest contribution reinforces that the BID is dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of those who need it, both locally and in the broader area.”
The raffle raised £1,185, with All About Barrhead adding its own donation to bring the total to £1,500.
Kirsten Watson, CEO at GCHC, has thanked all those who contributed to the cash boost.
She said: “We are delighted to receive the continued support from All About Barrhead.
“The money raised at the All About Barrhead Awards will go a long way to help our babies, children and young people who visit the Royal Hospital for Children each day.
“Thank you to everyone who contributed at the awards and congratulations to all of the award winners.”
