Jah9 Note To Self (2020)

"I really love the title track of this album, which features the Jamaican star Chronixx. Jah9 is my sister, and they both did a great job on this song. Iotosh [Poyser, Jamaican musician] produced the song and I recorded the bass-line at my home studio. My chain was my Conklin bass through an Ampeg SVT3 Pro head and out direct into an Apollo interface and then into Pro Tools. The mood of this line is what I love; there’s a different type of feeling there. It’s played very low on the B string and it has a beautiful flow to it; there’s two major bass-lines and a bridge in it, with a progression that I like a lot. The song itself is just beautiful and I love the way it went down. The drums are great too, and reggae bass is so dependent on the groove from the drums, and I really felt the groove here.”
