Lutan Fyah Music Never Dies (2017)

-

"I particularly like the song ‘Too Much Ramshackle’ on this album. The bass and drums were recorded in Miami at a studio called Audio Vision, owned by Herb Alpert. It’s a great studio, with a really nice analogue board. In fact pretty much everything I do is analogue, whether it’s the outboard gear or the console. It’s the warmth and the weight of the sound that I love; its fluidity is unparalleled. It’s a digital world, of course, but I like to send at least some analogue colour into Pro Tools. Lutan Fyah is a great, great artist out of Jamaica who I’ve been working with since 2002, and again, this song has a really hypnotic groove. I think that’s typical of the sound from our collective production team, Zion I Kings. I hear this sound a lot when I’m in Jamaica. As I said before, space is at the heart of all the lines I play. You need the bass to breathe, so allow the spaces between the notes to have a presence.”
