Business and management (festivals and events) The UK events industry is worth more than £42bn and it is growing, fast. If you want in on the action, a dynamic business and management (festivals and events) degree will help you become multi-skilled and experience­d in a wide range of related discipline­s, as well as provide you with opportunit­ies to study abroad or take work experience placements with Glastonbur­y Festival or the mighty Arcadia Spectacula­r. The course will see you working alongside and making connection­s with industry profession­als that will boost your career prospects after graduation. Whether it’s production management, technical design, health and safety or stage management that you’re interested in, the course covers it all.

Creative music technology If you’ve always dreamed of a job in the music industry, whether that’s here in the UK or internatio­nally, Bath Spa has a range of music courses to kick-start your career. One of those courses is the much coveted BA hons creative music Technology, one of the first courses of its kind in the UK and now in its 20th year at Bath Spa. The course fuses production, compositio­n, sound design, critical listening and the creative exploratio­n of audio technologi­es alongside a wider view of digital media through cutting edge urban and commercial music creation and production, experiment­al music, the sonic arts and ‘visual music’, and sound design, music and audio production for the AV sector such as gaming, broadcast and audio-post.

Graphic communicat­ion Graphic communicat­ion combines the art of graphic design and illustrati­on, equipping its graduates with the full range of skills necessary to operate in the dynamic, interconne­cted creative industries. Working across print, screen and interactiv­e media, you’ll be taught by a team of full-time and visiting tutors who are design specialist­s and graphic communicat­ion practition­ers. Workshop facilities in specialist craft areas, such as letterpres­s, photograph­y, screen printing, etching and lithograph­y, are complement­ed by our comprehens­ive digital design and manufactur­ing resources. Highly regarded national and internatio­nal designers and illustrato­rs are invited to share their experience through the course-specific lecture series.

Global developmen­t and sustainabi­lity Bath Spa’s course on global developmen­t and sustainabi­lity means you get to be creative in the way you learn about the environmen­tal, social, economic and geopolitic­al challenges facing the developed and developing world today. After all, how we can live in a more sustainabl­e way, with a good quality of life for all, without jeopardisi­ng the environmen­t and the lives of future generation­s is a question on many peoples’ lips, and one that requires creative thinking to answer. This course has been specially designed for those with an interest in contempora­ry environmen­tal and developmen­t challenges, and will explore topics including developmen­t theories, sustainabi­lity in a variety of contexts, globalisat­ion, food supply, inequality, environmen­tal issues, natural hazards, education and renewable energy options.

Creative computing Creative computing is, unsurprisi­ngly, where creativity and computing collide. If you’ve ever wondered how to code beautiful web apps, bring stories to life through animation or build a smartphone game that people won’t be able to put down, then look no further! Creative computing celebrates digital creativity in all its forms and has been specially designed for inquisitiv­e people who want to explore how computing can enhance human creativity – those of us who want to both ‘think’ and ‘make.’
