Z Hotel to open to guests next week
The Z Hotel Bath will open in the final week of this month, it has been announced. It will open in Saw Close with 50 rooms the week beginning August 27. Within three weeks all 149 bedrooms should be open, making it the city’s second largest hotel. The Z Hotel Bath bills itself as a 149-bedroom hotel providing affordable luxury accommodation in the heart of the World Heritage City. The hotel is arranged over ground and three upper floors with all bedrooms comprising en suite shower rooms and large Samsung HD TVS with full access to Sky and BT Sport channels. Complimentary Wi-fi is available throughout the hotel including within the reception and cafe areas on the ground floor. The huge hotel forms part of the new Century Casino complex with outdoor seating and restaurants, and is likely to lead to a significant increase in visitors to the gambling attraction. Its arrival is understood to concern small hoteliers. The Bath Independent Guesthouse Association has charted the arrival of several large hotels in recent years, including the 108room Premier Inn, 99-room Gainsborough, Apex City of Bath Hotel and a third city Travelodge with 56 rooms all opening since 2014. Coupled with the boom in Airbnb rentals, many traditional bed and breakfasts are seeing a decline in visitor numbers. Z Hotels previously said double rooms would be available for around £50-£85 a night, offering guests a city centre location at “out-of-town prices”. Z Hotel Bath will be the second largest in terms of total number of rooms, after the 177-bedroom Apex on nearby James Street West.
