Google is hosting free workshops at one of Bristol’s biggest business events in October. The global search engine’s Digital Garage, which will explore how organisations can successfully build or adjust their digital marketing plan and social media strategy, is taking place on Wednesday, October 10, at Ashton Gate Stadium. Expert Patrick Cutliffe is presenting the workshops at the event, which is being supported by the Bath Chronicle and our sister titles the Bristol Post, Western Daily Press, Citizen and Gloucester Echo. He said: “Digital is currently disrupting the lives of people all over the world. Its rapid ascent means that we need to upskill faster. “We need to learn more in shorter bursts of time and do our best to keep abreast of the unstoppable pace of digital transformation.” In the first workshop, attendees will learn how to create a strategy for business through digital marketing as well as learning about digital marketing channels and creating a digital marketing plan. In the second, they will learn how to build a social media plan to engage an audience or find new customers online through social media strategy and best practice. Patrick added: “My mission in life is to help and educate millions of people and change the world. Cliché you might think, but I am well on my way in less than three years of doing so. “Education does more than provide people with knowledge. It builds businesses, creates jobs, feeds families and saves lives.” The workshops are taking place at the Business Showcase South West – a day-long business devel-

opment and networking event that attracts thousands of people from across the region. As well as workshops, there will be a host of business speakers, including BBC Apprentice winner and business founder Mark Wright, and the team behind Tedxbristol – the largest TEDX event in the UK. There will also be seven expert-led seminars in the Reach Solutions Seminar Zone. Blackstar Solutions, a business communications company, is one of the main sponsors of the event. Other sponsors include Weston College, which was recognised as the ‘Training Provider of The Year’ at the Bristol and Bath Apprenticeship Awards 2018 last week; as well as Cabot Circus; office company Regus; and the West of England Growth Hub. Patrick said: “I speak at BSSW because I love the event, the people, the buzz and the free pizza. I travel all over the UK and attend hundreds of events and BSSW is a memorable favourite for multiple reasons. “For me, the littlest things are largest. When I arrive at the amazing Ashton Gate stadium, a very pleasant man will guide me to a parking space. “When I enter the building, I am welcomed with a large smile and pleasant helpful tone from Jamie Breese’s [showcase founder] staff. “In most cases, Jamie will be at the front welcoming people and then guiding us to where we need to be. The audio-visual people cannot do enough for me either and then the layout of the venue, the setup and the buzz all make for a magical event.” Showcase organiser Jamie added: “There’s something at this event for everybody on the day – from start-up warriors to experienced CEOS.” To book free delegate tickets or for information on exhibiting at the events, visit www.businessshowcasesouthwest.com
