Getting in shape for the neon Moonlight Walk

-

It was all things bright and bubbly in Bath as the fundraising team from Dorothy House Hospice Care toured the city to promote the annual Bath Moonlight Walk. The team took to the streets on Friday dressed head-to-toe in 80’s inspired neon lycra on the Theatre Bath Bus to publicise the fundraiser and attract new walkers to join them next month. More than 650 women took part in the 8km walk last year and raised £60,000 towards vital patient care. The theme for 2018 Bath Moonlight Walk is ‘walk back to the 80s’ and the warm-up session before the event will be hosted by ‘Cheryl’ who runs Mojo Moves, a new comedy fitness classes in Bath, Frome and Trowbridge. Cheryl, who joined the fundraising team on the bus, is a character performed by Ginny Adams from Rare Species Theatre Group in Frome, who will perform as a lycraclad, 80s-style dance instructor. Also publicising the event was the first male walker to sign up to the fundraiser, Alan Vranch, who is taking part in the Moonlight Walk in memory of his girlfriend’s dad who was cared for by the hospice recently. This is the first year men have been able to join in the event. The night walk on Saturday, September 15, starts at 10pm, from Southgate Shopping Centre and is open to anyone over 14 years old. Walkers are welcome from 8.30pm to enjoy the fun atmosphere with music, a raffle to win a luxury Mulberry handbag, merchandise stalls and other entertainment. The standard entry fee is £20 (until Sunday, September 9), after this date a fee of £25 applies. To enter and for more details go to www.bathmoonlightwalk.org.uk. The hospice is holding a bank holiday bonanza competition on its Facebook page www.facebook. com/dottyhouse. Anyone who signs up for the Bath Moonlight Walk between 5pm on Friday, August 24 and midnight on Monday, August 27 will be entered into a prize draw to win a meal for two at The Curfew in Bath, among other prizes. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, August 29.
