Records have been broken at Hayesfield Sixth Form for the number of students who achieved the highest grades at A-level, with nearly one third of all students awarded grades A* and A this year. Seventeen students achieved at least 3 A-levels at the top grades of A* and A: Anna Pearse, 4A*, medicine, Oxford University; Edie Parry, 3A*, law, Edinburgh; Tamzin Gelbier-bull, 3A*, chemical engineering, Imperial College; Livvie Marvell, 2A* A B, maths, Warwick; Amelia Melvin, 2A* A, English literature, Durham; Bethany Sewell, 2A* A, marine photography, Falmouth; Kate Wilkins, A* 3A, medicine, Cardiff; Anna Burt, A* 2A, chemistry, York: Alice Hodges, A* 2A, creative writing, Bath Spa University; Ana-sofia Velasco, A* 2A, philosophy, politics and economics, Leeds University; Amy Zhang, A* 2A, geography, UCL; Molly Mcdowell, 3A, classical civilization, Edinburgh and Amy Wood, 3A B, genetics, Sheffield University. A record-breaking 21 students have achieved places to study foundation art courses and Seren Nickson, who has been lead violinist in the orchestra for many years, secured her place at the prestigious Royal Academy, where she will focus on her performance skills. Headteacher, Emma Yates, said: “We are all exceptionally proud of our students’ achievements. It is a privilege working with talented and committed staff to secure bright futures for our students. Seeing so many happy faces on results day is definitely the highlight of our year.”
