Bouled over by fundraising

-

A popular Bath charity event has raised a record amount of more than £50,000 for local good causes. The total of £50,364 was revealed at Bath Boules breakfast at Framptons on Thursday last week to a crowd of delighted charities, sponsors and the Boules trustees. Among the local groups to benefit are First Steps Bath, Jessie May Trust, Stratton House MHA, RICE, Dorothy House, Julian House, Off the Record, Age UK and Golden Oldies and there are still more to go. The Bath boules event held in June benefitted from Queen Square being closed to traffic allowing the foodie market to take place. The event is organised by Mediaclash who describe it as “an amazing combination of fun, fundraising, socialising and networking”. Play was sold out on each day and guests enjoyed events including Menu Gordon Jones Surprise in the Square, an evening with Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis and a screening of England’s first World Cup game. Trustee David Gledhill said: “The trustees of the Bath Boules Charity are extremely pleased at this year’s result and thank all those involved in making it a record-breaking year once more. The charity supports those helping the young, old and disadvantaged in Bath and now we know how much has been raised we have been identifying those charitable causes, both big and small, who will all benefit from this year’s tremendous result.” Bath Boules 2019 will take place on June 14-16, with team tickets on sale at midday, March 13. Applications for funding can still be made via the website at www. bathboules.com
