The power of a shoebox to help change lives of children in need
From our sponsor: Simple Recruitment
This Christmas, Simple Recruitment is delighted to be involved with Samaritan’s Purse – Operation Christmas Child. Samaritan’s Purse is an international relief and development organisation that works through local churches in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Operation Christmas Child is a project which Samaritan’s Purse have been running every year since 1990, gifting unprivileged children around the world with present-filled Christmas shoeboxes, wrapped and packed by children and adults in the UK. The boxes are filled with items such as toys, colouring books, school supplies, hats/scarfs, hygiene items and personal notes along with a small donation of £5 to cover project costs, including shipping, to enable a local church or group overseas to lead a safe, well-organised children’s event where the shoebox will be given to a child in need. As well as sending shoeboxes overseas, Samaritan’s Purse is meeting the physical needs of victims of war, famine, natural disaster and disease with aid and assistance being given without regard to the race, creed, gender, religion or ethnicity of the beneficiaries. Simple Recruitment has been dropping off pre-printed shoeboxes to other businesses/individuals in Midsomer Norton and the surrounding areas who have also chosen to get involved with the project. They are aiming to collectively fill 100 shoeboxes by earlymid November, ready for them to be shipped to more than 100 countries. Since Operation Christmas Child began in 1990, the lives of more than 157million children in more than 160 countries have been impacted through the power of a simple shoebox.
