Brunelcare put on a knockout show to find a flat for a man in his seventies recently made homeless. The housing team were contacted by former boxer Jane Couch, a friend of Mr Woods, who helped him in his search for a new home. Brunelcare had been advertising one of their sheltered homes and their housing team were able to offer Jane and Mr Woods a viewing soon after Jane’s email request came in. Mr Woods picked up the keys to his new home last week. Brunelcare housing office manager Bibek Bhaker said: “My team made contact and arranged a viewing within the space of a few days. “I met Mr Woods at the flat, and at first he understandably seemed a little nervous - but I showed him around the site and flat, introduced him to our housing site team, and he loved it.” Once it was established Mr Woods could take the flat, Jane posted on Twitter: “I have to say a massive thank you to these guys and gals at Brunelcare…i tried everywhere in Bristol to get someone to help a nice old man and these people have just found him a home.” On receiving the keys, with Jane and Bibek, Mr Woods said: “I’m overjoyed and very happy. This is amazing. Thank you.” Brunelcare owns and manages more than 1,000 sheltered and privately owned properties in Bristol. Brunelcare’s sheltered housing is made available through Bristol City Council’s ‘Home Choice’ service. The council operate a ‘choice based letting’ system and applicants are shortlisted from those that bid on the advertised properties.
