Hot properties as market reopens

The Bath housing market has reopened with a vengeance with loads of new listings and a huge amount of buyer interest.

The most popular Bath property listings on Zoopla reflect the full breadth of the market.

In first place is a £150,000 fixerupper for sale at auction.

But the second most popular listing is a dream mansion looking for offers over £2,500,000.

And in third place is a stretch of riverbank purely for fishing on the market for £8,000.

Other listings in the top 10 range from further dream homes to a two bedroom character cottage and a three bedroom flat.

The most viewed home on Zoopla at the time of writing was a fixer-upper going to auction for a guide price of £150,000.

The two bedroom end terrace house is described as “in need of renovation” and photos of its poor state emphasise this point.

The listing includes a garage and parking with a “good-sized rear garden.”

The agents warn that there are “signs of structural movement” however the property does have the potential for extension subject to planning permission.

The second most popular listing was a five-bedroom dream home, described as “one of Bath’s most iconic Georgian Buildings in a unique and stunning location above the Kennet and Avon canal.”

Cleveland House was originally known as Canal House and was built as one of Europe’s first purpose built office blocks.

Constructed to the designs of John Pinch the elder (1769-1827), it was the canal’s management headquarters until 1864. It has since undergone total refurbishment with the retention and replacement of a wealth of period features, while incorporating new technology and luxurious contemporary features.

Twin doors either side of the property lead to impressive stair halls.

Both have cantilevered stone staircases, one climbing the full height of the building, while the more formal staircase leads up to the original boardroom on the first floor. This stunning room is now the drawing room which is 30ft long, with a 20ft high domed ceiling.

On the ground floor are two magnificent bedroom suites, featuring opulent marble bathrooms incorporating standalone baths and walk-through showers, alongside double-basin vanity units.

The house also has a media room, wine cellars, quadruple garaging and a vast roof terrace with views towards the city.

In third place is a purely recreational listing.

The lot going to auction for a guide price of £8,000 is half an acre of riverbank adjoining the river Bybrook with fishing rights.

“This grassed bank provides an idyllic retreat but is still within reach of amenities,” its listing says.

It offers a picnic spot or just somewhere to escape to. It is situated close to the outskirts of Bathford and the A4 and is within walking or cycling distance of Bath.
