Greek takeaway tops the lockdown menu

-

Online food delivery company, Deliveroo has revealed which Bath restaurant had the most orders during the 12 weeks of lockdown.

Now that pubs and restaurants are reopening again the food delivery giant has released data on what residents of the city were eating the most during the coronavirus lockdown.

The most ordered dish was the Chicken Gyros Pita Wrap from Taka Taka on Broad Street.

The Greek food takeaway chain has branches in Bristol as well as Bath and serves pita wraps, deli food and magic rolls.

Bath, Bournemouth, Guildford, Lancaster, Newcastle, Oxford, Swansea and Southampton are the cities that have been tucking into chicken dishes over lockdown.

Bristol and Liverpool are the only cities whose top lockdown dish is vegan with the Baconator from Oowee Vegan in Bristol claiming the top spot.

Arabella Jenkins from Deliveroo said: “The nationwide lockdown meant daily routines were turned upside down and inside out. It’s no surprise then that Deliveroo order data over these months has revealed changes in what, when and how customers were eating.”

The data also reveals that burgers are the most popular lockdown dish across the board, making up 21 per cent of top choices.

Group ordering had its moment during lockdown, with Deliveroo seeing the volume of group/multi-meal orders overtake single meal orders for the first time.

Where single meals used to constitute over half of Deliveroo’s total orders in the UK, during lockdown they constituted just a third of total orders
