Spencer wanting trophies

-

Bath scrum-half Ben Spencer has been one of the new faces settling in at Farleigh House over the past two weeks ahead of the season resumption on August 15.

Having arrived from already relegated Saracens, the 27-year-old is looking to build on an impressive career domestically and internationally and adds a wealth of experience to the group of competitive scrum-halves at Bath.

Speaking on the club’s website, Spencer said: “It’s a great bunch of lads, it’s nice to be back training. I’ve not obviously had a ball in my hand for a while so yeah it’s good to get out on the field and get back into things.

“It’s obviously pretty different [being in Bath], but it’s been great. I think my missus and kids are loving it down here, so it’s been really good so far.

“Its got huge aspirations as a club and they’re the ones that I aspire to as well. The club’s moving the right direction and it’s a young group of lads here so there’s big things ahead.

“It’s been quite a successful career so far [for me], but I think it’s a new challenge coming here. It’s a new learning curve for me and you aspire to win trophies and that’s no different.”

Bath return to competitive action against London Irish on August 15 at the Rec before travelling to Leicester Tigers on August 22 and Northampton Saints on August 26 in a rare midweek fixture.

Wasps will then be the visitors to the Rec before the semi-finals are due to take place on October 9, with the season-ending final taking place at Twickenham on October 24.
