Smith is Senior of the Year

After winning the final round, Lansdown’s Robert Smith was crowned Senior of the Year but it was a close call.

His best three rounds aggregate score was 107 points which put him just one ahead of Robin Pope and Mark Sevier. Smith’s 37 put him two shots clear of Ian Smith and Dave Pollinger in that final event.

Again in the senior’s section, the JJ Evans Plate has been won by previous club captain Joe Garry with 40 points, one better than Patrick Harrison, with Terry Corbett a further point adrift.

The latest stableford went to Pope with 36, just edging out Sevier and Corbett who both came in with 35. The nine-hole event on the same day was won by Derek Godwin with 17 points.

The latest ladies stableford had a clear winner in Suzanne Wheeler, her 35 points put her seven clear of the field with Clare Mornement and Di Garry taking second and third respective­ly.

The honours in latest club stableford went to Tom Furnell with 39 as he saw off plenty of close challenger­s. Division One had to be decided on countback as Ken Mitchell, Ken Madden and Robert Smith all came in with 36. Craig Sheppard took second behind Furnell in Division Two but only lost out on countback whilst Roland Jenkins was just a point adrift.

Jay Harris took Division Three with 37 which put him three points clear of Josh Gleghorn with Craig Stevens coming in third with 33.

The latest Profession­al’s competitio­n has been won by Alasdair Mcintyre with 42 points on countback from James Shopland who claimed top spot in Division Three. The winner of the top division was Corbett with 41, some four clear of Paul Thorne. Dave Gladwin took Division Two with 37, just one shot ahead of Nigel Rumming whilst Jay Harris with 36 took second spot in Division Three behind Shopland.

BATH The recent fine weather has assisted another busy week where several competitio­ns were held, starting with the ladies who held a stableford competitio­n over two days in generally fine, breezy conditions.

The winner of Division One was Angela Frith with 38 points, one better than Alison Gardener as Veronica Creed finished third on 35. The Second Division and overall competitio­n was won by Ann Henderson with a fine 40, with Linda Fricker second on 39 and Fay Galley third on 37. Suzannah Angelo-sparling won Division Three with 39 followed by Susan Clamp with 37 and Katy Pool third on 35.

On Monday, the seniors completed for the Trask Cup, a medal competitio­n in fine warm weather. Scoring was good and the winner with a fine nett 67 was Paul Suchley, second on nett 70 was Chris Perry who was just ahead of Geoff Frankcom and David Cox, both with the same score.

Last Saturday, the men played for the TM Cup. This competitio­n is a medal competitio­n and although open to all the cup can only be won by players who have won their divisions in previous qualifying competitio­ns. The course was looking and playing well with excellent, fast greens.

The winner of Division One and the TM Cup was Martin Cashnella with an excellent nett score of 66 in a level par round. Second with nett 69 was Matthew Warman just ahead of Thomas Clarkson on countback.

Division Two was won by Anthony Jones with a fine nett 67, with Kevin O’gorman second on nett 71 and Graham Duckworth third on nett 72.

The winner of Division Three was Andrew Souter with a fine nett 66, just ahead of Haiqing Jiang on countback with Phil Callan third with a fine nett 67.
