There have been no reported sightings of missing Bath student Alec Unsgaard for two weeks, say police.

Police said on Tuesday that enquiries were ongoing but that there were no confirmed sightings of Alec since he was seen at the University of Bath’s campus on the evening of Friday, September 18.

The parents of the 21-year-old released a statement saying that they were extremely worried about their son.

The statement reads: “Alec is attending the University of Bath to study International Relations and Politics and he was looking forward to moving from home to try something different, in a new environment. He’s worked very hard for two years to save the money to go.

“He loves books and reading and is very sporty; he loves to play football. He is a very caring person and is much loved by his family and friends.

“We are extremely worried and greatly appreciate all the help that can be given to locate Alec. I would encourage people to look out for Alec and call the police with any sightings or information that would help us to find him.”

Alec is described as white, of slim build, around 5ft 6in, with short blond curly hair. He also has a tattoo on his left tricep, just above his elbow, of a picture frame containing a tree-lined alleyway. There are Swedish words written within the frame and the tattoo is all in black ink.

In a statement the University of Bath said that they were doing everything possible to assist police in their search.

They said: “We are asking for help to locate Alec Unsgaard and are very concerned for his whereabouts.

“Anyone who sees Alec or has any information about his whereabouts should call 999 immediately. Please give the call handler the reference number 5220214460.

“If you have been affected by this event, support is available.

“If you are a student, Wellbeing Support is available every day of the year by phone on 01225383838, video or by emailing. Help is also available from The SU’S Advice and Support Centre.”

Police said: “We’re working closely with the University of Bath and are reviewing CCTV from around the city to try and understand Alec’s movements on Friday evening and into the weekend.

“We’re grateful for information received from the public to date but we still need anyone who sees Alec to call us as soon as possible.”

If you see Alec, please call 999 and give the call handler the reference number 5220214460.
