Saloon dream comes true for entrepreneur
A man has opened his ‘dream’ saloon bar in Bath which has been years in the making.
Wolf, The Saloon is a new bar opened by Sam Shaw, 29, and his team on Lower Bristol Road in Bath.
Mr Shaw already runs Wolf Wine in Green Park Station, a wine wholesale shop which sells natural, vegan and organic wines.
Yet this bar is a new venture and one that has been years in the making.
Mr Shaw said: “I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, so I guess it has been a dream. I’ve been looking for the right space to open for about four and a half years.
Mr Shaw explained: “The reason I started Wolf Wine was to combat the industy being so pretentious. I want a place were people in Bath can come and truly enjoy it.”
Erin Peacock, who works for Mr Shaw, said: “This has always been a dream of Sam’s, his wider dream is to expand even more. He is really one of a kind.”
She continued: “Wolf Wine’s been a wholesaler for wines for five years but this was always going to be the next step. We snapped up this property six months ago and now we’re finally open. We’ve got the holy trinity of beverages I think. With organic very good coffee served in the day and delicious craft beers with natural wine from the shop for later on.”
The new saloon is open from 8am to 10pm, in line with the new government curfew. The bar originally opened until 10.30 pm but Ms Peacock said losing half an hour at the end was not too bad, as it had been busier during the day.
She said: “We’re seeing that post 5pm we’re busy, we’ve got all the measures in place for social distancing with distanced tables, track and trace, hand sanitiser everywhere and table service.”
Mr Shaw grew up in Bath and attended university in the city which is why he wanted to open his business here.
