First half goals see Buccs open with victory

Newly promoted Team Bath Buccaneers got their Men’s Hockey League Division One South season underway with a 2-0 win over Old Cranleigha­ns. Goals from John Jackson and George Carson in the first half got Buccs off to the best possible start.

They host Sevenoaks on Sunday who began with a defeat against Canterbury.

The women’s side kicked off their Conference West campaign with a 4-2 defeat against Clifton Robinsons 2nd. Anna Edwards got Buccs off to a great start by giving them the lead after six minutes. That was cancelled out three minutes later by Lily Webb before Amy Burton gave Robinsons the lead after 24 minutes.

Edwards scored her second to level things once more just before the hour but two goals in five minutes from Livvy Hoskins gave

Clifton the victory.

The West Clubs Women’s Hockey League is currently due to begin on October 24. One team that won’t be competing in Keynsham 4th after they decided to withdraw.

Team Bath Buccs 2nd will begin their Premier Division One season at home to Howardian, while the third team travel to BAC in East Division; that division also sees Corsham take a trip to Devizes. Keynsham’s first team will host Yate 2nd in their Berkeley Division One opener while their third side travel to Knowle in Division Three.

There’s a City of Bath derby to kick Whitehorse Division One off as their first and second sides do battle. Corsham 2nd host West Wilts while Keynsham travel to Royal Wootton Bassett and Team Bath Buccs 4th entertain Chippenham 3rd. Division Two sees Corsham 3rd welcome North Wilts 2nd, while Buccs’ fifth and sixth sides face each other.

The Verde Recreo Hockey League is also due to start on October 24 with Team Bath Buccs A travelling to Swansea to begin their Premiershi­p campaign. City of Bath are at Chippenham in Conference North with Buccs B hosting Swansea A.

In Central One, Buccs C will welcome Taunton Vale B while the D side travel to Mid Somerset. City of Bath A host South Glos in Central Two with Corsham entertaini­ng Buccs E and Keynsham at home to Bridgwater A. Keynsham A travel to Old Bristolian­s C in West Central Two.

City of Bath C will host Devizes A in East Central One with the B side travelling to Marlboroug­h A, Buccs F are at home to Cirenceste­r B. Corsham A are away at Bristol & West E in East Central Two as Buccs G journey to Old Bristolian­s D.
