Released Bath Rugby winger Aled Brew has found himself a new club.

The 34-year-old nine cap Welsh international left Bath Rugby in June at the end of his contract at the Gallagher Premiership club having spent four years at the club.

Brew proved to be a valuable squad member at Bath and earned a longterm contract at the club after initially signing on a short-term deal however with the Blue, Black and White well stocked with world class wing options in the shape of: Anthony Watson, Joe Cokanasiga, Ruaridh Mcconnochie and Semesa Rokoduguni - England internationals all - as well as the emergence of Gabe Hamer Webb and other talented youngsters coming out of the academy.

The Welshman will be hoping he can repeat the feat at the Parc y Scarlets having been brought in as shortterm injury cover with Johnny Mcnicholl set to be sidelined for up to eight weeks with an ankle injury and Tomi Lewis facing potentially 12 months out recovering from knee surgery. The PRO14 starts this weekend with Scarlets facing Munster, and the competition will run alongside the Autumn internationals which will almost certainly see a number of Scarlets backs called up by former regional boss Wayne Pivac who has stepped up to lead the national side, leaving his replacement at the region in need of additional players.

When Brew makes his Scarlets debut he will have played for all four of the Welsh regions having represented Ospreys, Cardiff Blues and Dragons. He also had two seasons with Biarritz in the south of France and after another spell at Rodney Parade, before joining Bath in 2016.

Scarlets head coach Glenn Delaney said: “Unfortunately we have picked up a couple of injuries in the back three with Johnny and Tomi and we expect others to be involved with Wales this autumn.

“We have some talented youngsters coming through, but Aled brings that added top-level experience in the PRO14, TOP 14, Premiership and international rugby as we prepare for what will be a demanding few months for our squad.”

Brew was one of 16 players to depart the Rec in June along with: Lucas Noguera, Levi Douglas, Sam Nixon, Will Britton, Matt Garvey, Jack Davies, Freddie Burns, Alex Davies, Chris Cook, Tom Homer, Jackson Willison, Rhys Webb, Levi Davis and Rhys Davies while Francois Louw hung up his boots.

Earlier this summer, Brew said: “I’m looking to do another year or maybe two. That’s the plan.

“I certainly don’t feel my time has come and it would be nice to finish my career in Wales. If nothing comes along then I’ll switch to Plan B. I’ve been talking to a company which specialises in floodlighting installation and the possibility of joining them as a project manager. Ideally, I’d like to carry on playing.’’
