‘Blocky’ flats would fit right in to area

-

I had a good laugh at several articles in last week’s paper.

Page 11 - redevelopment plans for the Jubilee Centre on the Lower Bristol Road rejected as the new flats were “too blocky”.

What was missed on all the other redevelopment plans along the riverside? They all look a bit blocky to me.

Imagine if John Wood came back today with his plan for “The Circus”, the planners would probably say sorry mate but it’s not blocky enough, too much fancy stuff!

Page 18 - redevelopment of the recycling centre. Concerns that the planned 4 or 5 storey buildings don’t represent what this area looks like.

What’s right across the Destructor Bridge?

The planned new recycling centre at Pixash Lane will offer “modern and easily accesible waste and recycling services for all our residents.

Great for those in Keynsham and Saltford but for those in Bath only an additional 12-14 mile return journey each time. I’m sure that even our fittest Lib Dem cycling councillors will not be biking to Keynsham with their recycling.

I’ve tried to calculate how much extra fuel will be used over a year accessing this new facility but just based on my average of around 20-25 trips a year that represents around 10 gallons just for me. Multiply it by several thousand and it’s a lot of bad emission.

Never mind. If half of the current Lib Dem plans come to fruition, I bet a lot of Bathonians will be looking at moving there.
