Disabled to lose out in traffic schemes
There are a number of Bath centre traffic schemes under consultation now, the common theme to all of them is the removal/reduction of parking spaces.
We are told that there is no reduction in the number of designated disabled bays, not that there are many, but there will be a significant loss in yellow line and shared meter parking, resulting in a significant loss of parking options for the most vulnerable.
There is a drive to ‘enable’ cycling and walking (I’ve managed walking for 50+ years using pavements and footpaths!), and this seems to be the sole focus. Bath has limited road space, why does it appear that it is all being used for cycling?
Why are disabled people considered so unimportant? Why is there no attempt at compromise to ensure that the interests of ALL parties can be accommodated, within space limitations.

SPRING is a wonderful time to have fresh flowers in your home and updating your space with a ceramic vase will not only serve a function, but it also acts like a sculpture.
If you’re on a budget, H&M’S abstract Ceramic Vase, right,£12.99 (hm.com) is great for holding simple sprigs of fragrant eucalyptus or pampas grass, which is such a big trend itself on Instagram right now.
However, if you are happy to spend a little more, try something like raawii’s Strom vase, far right, £45, (cosstores.com), which has a contemporary shape that can add some real design flair to your home.
