Star bringing his vision of T.S. Eliot poem to the stage

World-famous actor Ralph Fiennes is coming to Bath as he stars and directs a brand new production written by T.S. Eliot.

One year on from theatres closing their doors, the Theatre Royal Bath has announced the world premiere stage adaptation of T.S. Eliot’s Four Quartets starring and directed by the man famous for portraying Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter franchise.

The production is due to take place in Bath from Tuesday, May 25 until Saturday, June 5 as the theatre welcomes audiences back to live theatre.

It will then take place at the Royal & Derngate Theatre in Northampto­n between June 8 and 12.

The production will then tour to Oxford and Cambridge, with further regional tour dates to be announced.

Four Quartets was the culminatin­g achievemen­t of T.S. Eliot’s career as a poet, offering four meditation­s on the nature of time, faith, and the quest for spiritual enlightenm­ent.

Ralph Fiennes will not only be starring but also directing the production. His previous achievemen­ts include a Tony Award for Hamlet, a BAFTA for his portrayal of concentrat­ion camp commandant Amon Goth in the film Schindler’s List as well as many roles in renowned films and series including Harry Potter and James Bond.

Ralph will be joined by a remarkable creative team including Hildegard Bechtler as the designer who won an Olivier Award for After the Dance at the National Theatre, Tim Lutkin on lighting, who has an Olivier Award for Chimerica and Christophe­r Shutt on sound who took home a Tony Award for War Horse.

The assistant director is Eva Sampson and the movement director is Fin Walker.
