Frankenstein inspires a new kind of attraction for spa city

-

Tickets for the UK’S first Frankenstein tourist attraction opening in Bath are now on sale.

Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein, is set to open in June on Gay Street in a Grade II listed building.

The house will tell the full story behind the genesis of Shelley’s iconic novel for the very first time by commemorating the legacy of her work across four atmospheric floors.

If you buy your tickets for the house before April 25, you can save 10% off standard tickets and 20% on group tickets for parties of five and more.

Mary Shelley (inset), pioneer of the science-fiction genre, began writing ‘Frankenstein’ aged just 18 in 1816.

For the very first time, the muchanticipated new visitor experience will tell the full story behind the genesis of Shelley’s novel.

Blurring the lines between museum and immersive experience, the attraction will commemorate the legacy of her work across four atmospheric floors. The attraction promises to be a scarily immersive and visceral experience featuring ominous music and unsettling soundscapes, temperature control, aromas, electric shocks, projections and props. There will also be period costumes, graphic artwork and some of Shelley’s original letters. One of the highlights of the attraction will be an eight-foot hyperrealistic animatronic version of the monster Mary Shelley describes in her novel.

The basement is currently being transformed into a horror walkthrough. An immersive experience designed to shock, scare and get your adrenaline pumping. There is also an escape room. Chris Harris, co-founder of Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein, said: “Few realise that Mary Shelley wrote much of her iconic novel while living in Bath over 200 years ago.

“We are excited to mark this historical connection to the city and commemorate her life in a way that

has never been seen before. With a bizarre collection of memorabilia, set within a chilling immersive experience, we can’t wait to open our doors.”

Tickets are now on sale, and guests can purchase a voucher to

redeem on their preferred date once announced. The attraction is scheduled to open in June 2021, dependent on and in accordance with UK government guidance around Covid-19. Book tickets at www.houseoffrankenstein.com.
